The Relapse Symphony recently released an acoustic version of their debut full-length, Shadows, and today we’re excited to premiere the lyric video for “The Ghost That Got Away.” Sing along with the mellow rendition of the track above.
“‘The Ghost That Got Away’ is one of the, for lack of a better word — “Ass Kickers” on our album Shadows,” vocalist Bret Von Dehl confesses. “It was interesting to break it back down to its foundation of just guitar and vocal melody again. Although I wouldn’t have thought it at the beginning, nothing was lost in its acoustic adaptation. I believe it to be an exceedingly interesting version of the song. Appropriately enough, the acoustic version has a much more haunting vibe and execution than it’s throat-punching, full-on-Rock N Roll predecessor on our debut full-length Shadows. In case you were wondering, the “F-bomb” is my favorite part.”
Shadows (The Acoustic Sessions) is out now on and is available for purchase through iTunes.
Standby Storytellers, the new imprint from Standby Records, will release the debut album from Bloomington, IN singer-songwriter and internet phenomenon, Joel Poe, on January 13, 2015.
Check out the signing video here.
Poe says, “This is my first ever album and it’s kind of a big deal to me- so I’m both, super excited and nervous at the same time. The music in it is really personal; songs about my self-harm story as well as songs about love and friendship. But overall it’s an album full of positive music. I know how hard it is being a teenager and our generation is a really sad one. My only goal is to touch some hearts and connect with my generation throughout my music. To spread a message of hope and love. I’m looking forward to my new adventure as one of Standby Record’s Storytellers and I’m really happy to be pioneering in this new project with art and music as a premise.”

At their core, musicians are simply storytellers with a creative energy that needs a release. While most times, we relate that need to freely express themselves to recorded songs, that’s hardly where it stops for those truly gifted with ideas that far outstretch the common thoughts of creativity. Yet, for most of these artists, they have no place to fully express their artistic vision. That is, until now. Introducing STANDBY STORYTELLERS.
A division of Standby Records, who has discovered musical visionaries like Black Veil Brides, Farewell, My Love and The Relapse Symphony, STANDBY STORYTELLERS widens the pipeline for new artists to fully explore the creative vision they have and want to share with the world. Focused on the worlds of poetry, painting, books and other artistic expression as well as music, the artists signed with STANDBY STORYTELLERS will be living proof that art is anything but dead in the 21st Century. The world may have devolved creatively into a world of 140 characters, but that doesn’t mean the sheer beauty of expressive genius has to be diluted along with it. To the contrary, STANDBY STORYTELLERS acts a pipeline between expression and the audience that wants so desperately to find it. That pipeline is now open for public consumption.
You can catch the band on tour this fall/winter with Rings Of Saturn and Upon This Dawning.
